Die hier gezeigten Arbeiten entstanden in den Jahren 1987 bis 2000. Stefan Mattes wurde seit 1987 \u00fcber die Galerie Sophia Ungers, Aachener Stra\u00dfe 21-23 in K\u00f6ln, Deutschland, vertreten. Bevor die Galerie 1991 schloss, erwarben private Sammler, Institutionen und Unternehmen \u00fcber Sophia Ungers Arbeiten von Stefan Mattes. Viele der Sammler kamen aus den USA; die in der Ausstellung “Painting alone” in der Pace Gallery NYC gezeigten Arbeiten wurden noch in der Preview komplett verkauft. Viele der US-amerikanischen Sammler fuhren in dem fr\u00fchen 90ern von der ART BASEL aus nach K\u00f6ln, um dort direkt in den K\u00fcnstlerateliers Arbeiten zu kaufen. Ein Sammler von Mattes-Gem\u00e4lden gab seine beiden erworbenen Arbeiten nach der Schlie\u00dfung der Galerie Sophia Ungers wieder zur\u00fcck. Leider liegen keine genauen Daten \u00fcber andere Verk\u00e4ufe – speziell in die USA – vor. Bekannt ist nur, dass unter anderem die General Mills Company sowie die Tishman Speyer Group Arbeiten von Stefan Mattes kauften. The shown works originate from 1987 to 2000. Since 1987, Stefan Mattes was represented by the gallery Sophia Ungers, Aachener Str. 21-23 in Cologne, Germany. Before the gallery\u00b4s closing in 1987, many private collectors, institutes and companies merely from the USA bought works of Stefan Mattes. In his exhibition \u201cpainting alone\u201d at the Pace Gallery in NYC, all paintings where sold completely during the preview. In the early 90ties, many collectors from the USA combined a visit at the Art Basel to a trip to Cologne to buy art from the ateliers directly. Because of the closing of Sophia Ungers\u00b4 gallery, unfortunately there are no details left about the sellings of Stefan Mattes\u00b4 paintings in Europe and the USA.<\/p>\n
